If your hand totals 17 or higher (with no Ace counted as 11), never take another card regardless of what the dealer shows. The risk of busting outweighs any potential gain from drawing an additional card at this total.
A pair of Aces gives you two chances to hit 21 — always split them. A pair of Eights totals 16, which is the worst hand in Blackjack; splitting transforms a losing hand into two independent opportunities. Both plays are non-negotiable in optimal strategy.
A total of 20 is an extremely strong hand that wins the vast majority of the time. Splitting Tens turns one nearly-unbeatable hand into two speculative ones. The expected value of keeping 20 intact is significantly higher than splitting in virtually all game conditions.
When your first two cards total 11, doubling your bet and drawing one card is statistically profitable against all dealer up-cards from 2 through 10. Any 10-value card gives you 21; even lower cards typically leave you in a strong position relative to the dealer.
An Ace-6 combination counts as either 7 or 17. Since you cannot bust by drawing to a soft hand (the Ace drops to 1 if needed), always take one more card when the dealer shows a 7 or higher. Standing on soft 17 surrenders significant long-term value on top77's tables.
When the dealer shows an Ace, top77 offers Insurance — a side bet paying 2:1 if the dealer has Blackjack. Despite appearing protective, Insurance has a negative expected value in all standard shoe compositions. Skip it consistently to preserve your long-term win rate.
